The warmth of Qiang New Year

People gather, songs are sung, and the hearth becomes a meeting point for shared cultural memory.

The Qiang New Year Festival brings communities together around ceremonies, music, dance and celebration. Its cultural practices connect daily life with stories carried between generations.

The festival was inscribed on UNESCO’s List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding in 2009 and transferred to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2024, as described in our exhibition brochure.

Through cultural experiences and the Wenwen & Chuanchuan heritage edition, the collection offers different ways to encounter the spirit of this living tradition.
